INTERNATIONAL BOARD CERTIFIED LACTATION CONSULTANTS

Serving Austin Mothers and Babies for over 20 years

 A Mother’s Gift…

Breastfeeding is a mother’s gift for the health, growth, and wellbeing of her children. For some, however, success requires the special care and attention of an experienced lactation consultant.

For over 20 years, we have offered a warm and caring approach to helping thousands of breastfeeding mothers and babies in the Austin area. Working with you and your baby in-person, at our office or your home, insures that our assessments and measurements are complete and accurate, leading to the optimal breastfeeding plan.

And because we work closely with many OBGYN’s and Pediatricians in the area, you will receive coordinated, comprehensive professional care throughout.

Cathy

Cathy breastfed four healthy children and followed that success with a professional interest in helping other mothers successfully breastfeed. Cathy became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 1990, and has re-certified 4 times. Following her first certification, she founded the breastfeeding lactation program at a large Oklahoma hospital. Then, in 1995, Cathy opened A Baby’s Best Start in Austin.  Since then, she has helped thousands of breastfeeding mothers and babies and has seen every conceivable breastfeeding condition. Cathy has a nursing degree from Michigan State University and gained extensive hospital experience in Labor and Delivery and the Newborn Nursery before opening her own breastfeeding lactation practice in Austin.

Tiffany

Tiffany, daughter of Cathy, is the healthy example of her mother’s breastfeeding, along with her three brothers. After graduating from Texas State University in Exercise and Sports Science in May of 2013, she expressed a strong interest in following in her mother’s footsteps professionally. For the next year at A Baby’s Best Start she immersed herself in her mother’s practice. This produced a strong understanding of the challenges facing breastfeeding moms and babies, and confirmed her inspiration to help and support breastfeeding mothers and babies. In December of 2013, Tiffany became a Certified Lactation Counselor. In the summer of 2014, she passed the exam to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
